You need to clean your gun soon after each time you use corrosive ammo, preferably the same day especially if you live in a moist climate. The key to preserving your gun from corrosion is to clean it well soon after use. The methods vary, some people just use copious amounts of gun cleaning solvent, some use soapy water, some use Windex (since ammonia helps neutralize the salts). All should work, the key being not to wait too long before you clean it.
